Jewelry Care Guide

Because every piece deserves to be loved a little longer.

At TanMann Collections, we carefully select each piece for its finish, weight, and durability. With the right care, your jewelry can stay beautiful and bright for a long time. Here's everything you need to know to keep your favorites looking their best.

General Care Tips

  • Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place; ideally in the pouch or box it came in
  • Keep pieces away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity
  • Store each piece separately to prevent scratching and tangling
  • Avoid spraying perfume, deodorant, or hairspray directly onto your jewelry, always wear your jewelry last, after your beauty routine
  • Wipe each piece gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing to remove oils and moisture

What to Avoid

To extend the life of your jewelry, please avoid:

  • Water — remove all jewelry before bathing, swimming, or washing hands
  • Sweat — remove before workouts or any physical activity
  • Chemicals — keep away from cleaning agents, lotions, and beauty products
  • Sleeping in jewelry — this causes unnecessary stress on delicate settings and chains
  • Rough handling — imitation jewelry has fine finishes that can chip or scratch if dropped or knocked

Caring for Specific Pieces

  • Earrings: Clean the posts and backs gently with a dry cotton swab after each use. Avoid pulling or tugging on dangling styles.
  • Necklaces & Chains: Always unclasp before storing to prevent kinking. Lay flat or hang to avoid tangling.
  • Bangles & Bracelets: Slide on and off gently, avoid forcing over the hand. Store flat or in a bangle stand to maintain shape.
  • Rings: Remove before washing hands or applying hand cream. Store separately to avoid surface scratches.
  • Enamel & Stone-Set Pieces: These are especially delicate. Avoid knocking against hard surfaces. Do not soak in water as it can loosen the setting or dull the enamel.

How Long Will My Jewelry Last?

With proper care, imitation jewelry from TanMann Collections can last anywhere from several months to years depending on how well it's maintained. Pieces stored correctly tend to retain their finish significantly longer.

A Note on Tarnishing

Imitation jewelry may naturally show some tarnishing over time, unless they are stainless steel. This is normal and not a defect. Tarnishing is accelerated by exposure to moisture, sweat, and chemicals. Following the care tips above will significantly slow this process.

If you notice tarnishing, gently buff the piece with a soft dry cloth. Do not use metal polishes or abrasive cleaners as these can damage the finish.
